The Port, who lie at the foot of the West Cheshire League Division One table, fell to a 2-0 away defeat.

Fourth-placed Vauxhall Motors recorded a narrow home win over Hale.

A solitary strike by Alex Clare gave them a 1-0 success.

In Division Two, Willaston lost 1-0 at AFC Bebington Athletic while Capenhurst Villa notched up a 2-1 home success over Marshalls.

Luke Eccles and Mike Banks netted for Cape.

In Division Three, Capenhurst Villa Reserves lost 3-0 at Redgate Rovers.

White Swan secured the surprise result of the day in the Ellesmere Port Sunday League.

The Premier Division strugglers stunned high-flyers Westminster, winning 4-1.

Woodlands drew 2-2 with Grace.

In Division One, Cheshire Yeoman swept aside Hope Farm Rangers, winning 5-0. SCFC94 lost 2-0 to Grace Arms Reserves and Travellers’ Rest overcame FC Saviours 2-1.

In the George Williamson Memorial Trophy, Thorne Plumbing & Heating marched into the next round courtesy of a 5-2 win over A&J Aquajet.

Ellesmere Port Town Ladies booked their place in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup with a 2-1 win over Stockport Yellows.

The Port took the lead with a header by Nat Neary, only for Stockport to level just before the break. But Neary won it in the second half, bagging her second of the game from a free kick by Port captain Lydia Ward.
