CAT emerged victorious from the Kingkab Cup final in the Ellesmere Port Sunday League, beating Westminster Reserves 3-1.

The Westminster had been leading at half-time thanks to Chris McNeill.

But after the break Cat found another gear and took the fight to their opponents.

Paul King fired the equaliser before Mike Simmons gave Cat the lead.

The momentum had swung and Jordan Eccleston had the final word, making it three for Cat.

In the Shell Premier Division the Woodlands defeated Bull Wanderers 2-0 with goals from Colin Wilson and Luke Ellis.

Earlier in the week Westminster had beaten FC Sportsmans 8-0 in the Premier Division.

Castrol Vets over 45s football team were beaten 5-3 after extra time at Aintree in the National Veterans Final.

Despite the Oilmen leading 2-0 at half time a strong fight back from Aintree put them back in to contention as they drew level.

Shell-shocked Castrol were grateful to a super penalty save from goalkeeper Geoff Libbins which kept them in the game.

But ultimately Aintree’s fitness saw them take the game away from Castrol, and they scored three more to win 5-3.

Castrol enjoyed a good run to the final including beating reigning champions Harrogate in their semi-final.
