IT proved to be a miserable afternoon for Ellesmere Port and district teams on Saturday.

Capenhurst Villa became the first side to lost to West Cheshire League Division Two strugglers Bronze Social as they fell to a 3-0 away reverse.

Capenhurst’s reserves fared slightly better, drawing 2-2 at home to Merseyside Police in Division Three with goals from Mike Simmons and Mike Urmston.

But there were defeats for Ellesmere Port Juniors (Charlie Everall), 2-1 at home to Runcorn Town, and Neston Nomads, 3-0 at home to Helsby, in the Youth Division.

Ellesmere Port Reserves (Mike Jones) also lost, 4-1 away to AFC Bebington Athletic in the second round of the Wirral Amateur Cup.

Ellesmere Girls Football Club, in contrast, enjoyed a weekend to remember.

Their under 12s continued their excellent form with a 4-1 derby home victory over Chester & District given to them by Tilly Kellaway (2) and Emma Jaynes (2). Girl of the match was defender Rosie Webber.

Port’s U14s went goal crazy as they sent Frodsham packing 12-1.

Kasey Tideswell (3), Emily Walker (3), Freddie Littlewood (2), Georgia Solomons (2), Lauren Spruce and Holly McDonough shared the strikes.

Port’s U16s also won, 5-1 away to Sandbach United.

Becky Powell (2), Natalie Primrose, Amber Senior and Joy Owen netted.
