WITH a guaranteed minimum pool of £1m, it is worth dusting off the form books to enter the Tote/Racing Post 10 To Follow contest before the closing date on Wednesday.

Between January 8 and noon on January 14, 2006, there is the opportunity to substitute two horses.

Additional points are awarded for selecting the first two home in the major jump races so the chances of finishing in the money are enhanced by selecting horses who are likely to appear in the most valuable events between now and the John Smith's Grand National meeting in April. The following horses look sure to be in the winning enclosure: nOllie Magern was the paddock pick in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby last weekend. The seven-year-old made all the running and kept Kingscliff firmly in second place.

Trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies was delighted and remarked: 'He's buzzing, there's no question marks about him, he'll be better for that run. If he'll settle then he'll give himself more chance, he went much too freely but still won.'

Plans are to run at Haycock on November 19 as the first leg of the £1m bonus that also takes in the King George and the Cheltenham Gold Cup. A realistic goal based on this performance. nAshley Brook looks to have a bright future having finished last term with a 16-length win over two miles at Aintree in a Grade One novice chase.

In second place was War of Attrition, who subsequently beat a not fully wound-up Kicking King at Punchestown last month. After making most of the running at Exeter earlier this week, he was not disgraced when finishing third behind Monkerhostin and the talented Kauto Star. nOneway ran up a sequence of five straight wins last winter including a top-weight success at Haydock Park in December.

The eight-year-old made a mistake three out in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham in March and finished fourth to the outstanding Moscow Flyer who may find this younger rival more of a challenge this campaign. nThe Market Man won on the opening day of Cheltenham's season last week. This New Zealand-bred chestnut has an eye-catching stride, enabling him to quicken effectively.

Previously seen out at Doncaster back in January when seeing off his field by 15 lengths, this horse is sure to progress given the way he opened his seasonal account. nLord Transcend hails from Howard Johnson's yard in County Durham and looked high-class when galloping home by 10 lengths in the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock Park last January. The eight-year-old has only been out four times over fences and is capable of taking on the best this season. nInglis Drever looks the pick of the staying hurdlers. The six-year-old was successful by three lengths last Saturday at Wetherby despite going wide on the run-in.

His campaign will lead up to the Long Walk Hurdle at Cheltenham. With a festival win last season and just beaten in a Grade One event at Aintree back in April, the gelding is top-class. nFaasel is still only a four-year-old and proved himself to be a high-class novice when recording a seven-length success at Aintree in April. The gelding was second by a head to the unbeaten Penzance in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham, having previously notched up three wins, and is sure to provide Nicky Richards with more success this term.

The next meeting at Bangor-on-Dee is scheduled for Wednesday.
