SNOOKER: REVENGE was sweet for United Services B as they defeated St Theresa's B 5-1 in Division One of the Chester and District League.

The result avenged their 5-1 home loss to Saints earlier in the season.

Services started off in style with an in-form Scott Wilkie beating Mike Davies. Alan Lea got the better of Barry Davies in a close tussle and George Brady capitalised on a missed green by Peter Sheppard to take the colours and win by 11.

Joey Wynne, third-placed Theresa's only winner, triumphed after Chris Fraser missed a straight pink for the frame.

Kevin Maxwell beat Barry Charker on the pink ball and Jason Taylor inflicted on Wayne Amey only his second defeat of the season.

Second-placed Conservative A whitewashed St Werburgh's 6-0 and leaders Broughton Wings had a 5-1 win over Upton A, where Pat Haycock was the only loser to John Over.

In Division Two, City Transport started off well against Liberal.

They won the first three frames through in-form Gordon Dugdale and that was followed by a black ball win by Shane Futcher over Phil Sullivan and a Colin Morris victory.

Tom Hughes got the better of Dave Tilston and Pat Cooney defeated Wayne Davies to pull the score back to 3-2.

Damien Futcher thought he had the frame won for Transport but Gordon stepped in to win by four points.

St Theresa's A had a 5-1 victory at Broughton Wings B thanks to wins by Alan Cheers, Shawn McCullough, Micky Thomas, Kenny Owens and Ray Cheers, who had two breaks of 40 against Mark Taylor to round off a good evening.

In Division Three, St Saviours held their position at the top with a 4-2 win over St Werburgh's.

The shock of the match saw Roy Proctor's undefeated run end at the hands of Steve Thompson.

Wins by Steve Proctor, Dave Lyth on the black, Derek Morris and Colin Osborne saw Saints home.

Second-placed Upton D were held to a home draw by Upton C. Andy Sutton Thompson, Jerry Banks and John O'Boyle scored for the home side with Sean Growney, Steve Bright and Mike Bedward replying for the C team.

Upton B had a tremendous 6-0 win at Waverton A while Liberal B scored a 4-2 success at Conservative D. nHolders St Theresa's B suffered their second shock defeat in three days when they went out of the HS Drennan Cup after a 4-1 defeat to Upton.

Broughton Wings knocked out last season's runners up United Services C.
