ROWING: CHESTER rowers made a splash at the two-day Ironbridge Regatta.

Queen's Park High School's J13 girls duo Bridie Collin and Alice Walton beat their rivals from Stourport by a stroke to take their final.

The boys J13 double sculls Chris Thomas and Joe Rowlands met the other QPHS J13 double sculls Alex Ross and Ozzie Ghobadi in the final.

The crews were level with 25m to go before Chris and Joe found the power to edge into a 1m lead.

Robert McWilliam and Richard Harada in the boys Junior double sculls rowed in style to a convincing two-lengths lead in their final.

Marcus Adam and Jack Hopkinson, rowing in the J15 sculls, made their semi-final but Marcus won the J14 single-sculls by a length.

Amy Jones and Becky Williams made the semi-finals of J13 single sculls.

Grosvenor Rowing Club were also well-represented at the event, with the veteran squad of Jeremy Lush, Ad Gideonse, Tony Churchill and Mike Allwood (coxed by Sarah Armstrong) beating Minerva Bath RC to win the Veteran C coxed fours. The club's Senior 2 four of Chris Hudson, Joe Robson, Alastair Slinn and Phil Hill (Coxed by Sarah Armstrong) beat a Ross/Tyne composite in the final.

Single-sculler Mark Devaney had an excellent win in Senior 4 sculls while the women's Senior 3 eight of Jilly Page, Sarah Coey, Laura James, Kirsten Hope, Karen Hough, Maria Bermejo, Alex Newton and Claire Edwards (coxed by Alex Churchill) came back from a dead-heat in their semi-final to win the re-row and go through to win the final.
