FREESTYLE ace Elliot Bloor has been selected for a regional centre of excellence after a stunning summer of success.

The 12-year-old, from Crewe, made the national finals in the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle events at Sheffield in July, finishing fifth, sixth and eighth respectively. The performance saw rank in the top six for his age.

His reward is a call-up to attend a North West Swim Clinic, which is part of a national development programme.

A member of the Crewe Flyers club, he will now attend regular sessions with elite swimmers.

A club spokesman said: 'These sessions will be held at the Manchester Aquatics Centre and will help to develop Elliot's future swimming career. Well done from all at Crewe Flyers.'

In addition, Elliot took part into a county development training day, alongside fellow Flyers Laura Grey, James Mitchell, Toby Molyneux, Dale Barton and Charlotte Bradbury. The other five were rated in the top six for their age in Cheshire.
