VICTORY went to Paul Edwards in Sunday's Greyhound, Saughall AC match at Moorlands Fishery with 40lbs 6oz of carp.

He edged out Mark Mealing who had 40-2-0 of carp and Steve Bampton who was third with 36lbs.

Tony Johnson was up front in the Piper AC match on pool two at Milton Green Fishery with 16-10-0 of carp, ahead of Keith Saunders' 10-7-0 carp and Martin Beresford's 7-4-0 mix.

Several members of Wirral Gamefishers had good catches last week. Paul Machin, of Chester, was at Llyn Brenig where he lured a 6-4-0 rainbow to a fly; Peter Williamson, of Rossett, coaxed a 4-4-0 rainbow to a fly on the same water; Jack Dunning, Waverton, tempted a 6lbs salmon and Farndon's John Bales took a 10-12-0 salmon to a fly from the Dee at Corwen. Graham Fergus, of Blacon, lifted an 8lbs salmon from the Dee at Chirk.

Dave Stewart won the Rake and Pikel AC match on the Severn at Monkmoor with barbel up to 6-10-0 for a total of 31lbs, to beat Dave Maddocks' 14-12-0 of bream up to 5lbs and Jeff Williams with a 9-12-0 mixture.

Tarporley AC's match at Little Budworth pool went to Cliff Whitefield, who took a 13.66lbs mixture to beat Colin Butters with an 11.74lbs mixture and Bill Cross with 4.10lbs of perch and bream.

Brian Summerville came out on top in the Grosvenor Estate AC match at Eaton Hall with 4-4-0 of tench and roach from Ron Evans with 4lbs of rudd and John Mort with 2lbs.

The Phoenix SAC fished out of Amlwch, Anglesey where Martin Evans took top spot with an 8-8-0 pollock. Charlie King had a 6-8-0 pollock and Gary Davies landed a 4lbs coalfish.

Malpas AC fished the pool at Egerton Fruit Farm and Alan Jones, helped by a 4-14-0 common carp, took 10-10-0 to beat Ken Childs with a carp-based 2-10-0 and Gordon Coomber with 2-8-0.

John Ryder, of Ellesmere Port British Legion, won the Middlewich British Legion open match at Tatton lake, Middlewich with a 3lbs tench in his 5-1-0 total.

Benny Coleclough landed 7-8-0, including a 5lbs barbel, to take the honours in the Blacon Social Club AC match on the Severn at Monkmoor, ahead of Tony Buckley's 4lbs and Carl Davies's 3-4-0.

Graham Aveyard won the Wirral Borough Council AC match on the long island pool at Hampton Springs with 30-7-0 of tench. John Walsh with 20-6-0 of carp and Jamie Stewart with 15-11-0 of small fish followed.

Colin Bowyer came out on top in the Castrol SAS match out of Port Dinorwic with four pollock in the 6lbs range, to beat Norton Cooper and Neil Milligan who both took three 6lb pollocks.

John Tyreman was up front in the Upton AC match at Border Fishery with 35lbs of carp. Andy Spencer had 27-8-0 of carp and barbel and Martin Holding landed 27-6-0 carp. Top junior with 9-6-0 of carp was Liam Dean. The club's next match is on September 11 at Hampton Springs Fishery.

Airbus, Broughton AC were at Cosford where Steve Norman landed 23-7-0 of skimmers, perch and roach to beat Roy Price's 19-9-0 of skimmers and Mark Mealing's 16-12-0 of skimmers.

Mark Greasley led the Chester Police AC competitors at Burton Mere Fishery with 36-4-0 of carp and skimmers, beating Brian Woodcock's 30-4-0 and John Booth's 23lbs of carp.

Tarvin Sands AC went to a fishery at Criccieth and Shaun Sandham won with 71lbs of carp. Martin Holding took 48-12-0 and Les Picken 46lbs. The Thursday match on their own fishery went to Picken with 58lbs of carp from Holding's 44lbs and Sandham's 30lbs.

Meadow: Bill Jones, of Ellesmere Port, lured a 4-7-0 rainbow to a black buzzer and Michael Gallagher, Chester, fished a red buzzer to take a 4-4-0 rainbow.

Burton Mere: Thirteen-year-old Tom Carr, of Parkgate, tempted a 42-8-0 catfish to squid, a 17lbs common carp and 12lbs mirror carp to a sauce boilie; John Hammond, of Chester, tempted 11 carp in double figures to a halibut pellet and 14-year-old Tom McDermott, of Meols, coaxed a 19-10-0 catfish to squid.

Harthill: Huntington angler Barry Miller lured a 12lbs common carp to anchovy and Gareth Miller coaxed carp of 11lbs and 10lbs to luncheon meat.

Cheshire: Chester's Don Cain netted 120lbs of carp up to 9lbs using floating breadcrust.

Grove: Tom Stockton, Great Sutton, bagged a brace of 10lbs mirror carp and four other carp between 7lbs and 3lbs using halibut pellet; Matthew Bowley, of Great Sutton, coaxed four carp to 10lbs, also with halibut pellet; and John Duckers, of Chester, lured a 12lbs common carp using his secret bait. Dave Stewart, of Wirral, fished sweetcorn to take a 17-3-0 mirror carp and Carl Hammill, Chorlton, found an 8-3-0 grass carp by fishing sweetcorn.

Lake Hill: Mick Bell, of Little Sutton, netted rainbows of 7lbs and 5lbs to a copper toby spinner; John Metcalf landed the best bag of the week with rainbows of 6-8-0, 6-4-0 and 6lbs, returning 15 others; and Will Graham, of Wirral, coaxed a 5lbs rainbow to worm.

Milton Green: Dean Williams, of Ellesmere Port, lured 22lbs of mirror carp to floating breadcrust.

Forest Hill: Heswall's John White fished a worm to take a 3-6-0 rainbow.

Four Oaks: Ashley Webster, Chester, lured an 11lbs carp to luncheon meat.
