ICE HOCKEY: Three former Flintshire Freeze aces would like nothing better than to put one over their old team-mates when Blackburn Hawks come to the Deeside Ice Rink on Sunday night.

Netminders Matty Compton and Dave Clancy and sharpshooter Aaron Davies should be part of the Hawks squad for one of the most eagerly anticipated clashes in the ENIHL Northern Conference.

Compton, who starred when the Freeze stormed to their first league crown in 2003/04 but left Deeside in the summer, said: 'I can tell you all the lads have been talking about it for the last couple of weeks so we're all up for it.

'There's a good rivalry between the sides and they always make for great matches.

'For me personally, it will be strange going back because I started playing ice hockey on Deeside when I was eight years old, so I've grown up with the players in the team.'

The action gets under way at 6.30pm.
