Deeside Dragons banished the memory of their dismal 7-1 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Lions in January as continued their recent rich vein of form with a 3-1 success on Sunday night.

Goals from James Parsons, Bryn Roberts and Chris Jones secured a deserved success for player-coach Steve Fellows’ men at the Deeside Ice Rink, with the win extending their unbeaten run to three matches and giving their chances of a top-four finish a major boost.

The Dragons have yet to taste defeat in February but fell behind to the visitors on 14 minutes when they caught the hosts on the counter attack and former Elite League player Stuart Parker picked up the puck to coolly slot home past netminder Matty Compton.

The Dragons ended the first period trailing but emerged from the bench with renewed vigour for the second, with Andy Chappell coming close before Parsons opened his account to restore parity on the half-hour mark.

It took until the third period before the Dragons hit the front when Roberts rounded off a nice team move to fire home.

Compton was putting in an impressive performance between the sticks and repelled what the Lions had to throw at him as the visitors searched for a way back into the contest.

But Jones assured the hosts of victory in the final minute of the match when he broke quickly before dummying the netminder and sliding into an empty net.

The Dragons are next in Laidler Conference action at rivals Widnes Wild on Saturday (5.30pm). Then they host Solihull Barons at Deeisde Ice Rink on Sunday (6.45pm).
