Deeside Dragons will be looking to set the record straight at home to Blackburn Eagles on Saturday night – before a ‘four-point’ clash with Nottingham Lions the next day.
The Chester Road men shared the spoils with Blackburn in their final game of 2015 – only their second draw of the Laidler Conference season so far.
That stalemate is the only blot in a string of victories that now stretches back to the end of October, as the Dragons close in on their first major silverware in over 20 years.
But head coach Lol Paul, who is likely to have a full squad at his disposal this weekend, will turn his squad’s attention back to the task in hand against Blackburn.
He said: “It is all about the win on Saturday. The guys will want their revenge after that draw, but we need to prepare for every game the same.
“The focus is getting the two points, whether we win ugly or not. We played well against Altrincham last weekend but have not been pretty against teams like Coventry, for example.
“The last time we drew against someone, which was Bradford, we put 11 or 12 past them back in Deeside. Blackburn are a better team but I want a similar performance this weekend.”
Sunday’s trip to Nottingham could have an effect on the end-of-season shake-up, with the chasing pack still within striking distance of Deeside.
Paul’s last trip to the Lace City ended in a 7-1 win for his Dragons side – but with the return of several key Lions players, he’s expecting a tougher night.
“When we beat Nottingham last time, they had some players away with GB under-20s,” he said.
“I think it’s going to be much harder this time.
“Along with Widnes, they’re one of the closest teams in the league to us, so it will definitely be a four-point game.
“If we win on Sunday then I think Nottingham will be out of the equation in the league.”
Saturday’s game against Blackburn Eagles, at Deeside Ice Rink, faces off at 7pm.
