CRICKETERS are enjoying the summer game in Widnes & District Darts League.

They made it two wins from as many Phil McGuinness Summer League appearances when accounting for Widnes RUFC away from home 5-2.

Paul Barnes, John Mulholland and Brian Dwyer handed Cricketers the first three games of the contest.

Wids took the next two through Phil Glover and Jeff Thompson.

But Ray Hatton (12 darts) and Scott Grady sent Cricketers home happy.

St Michael's took a 6-1 hammering against inform visitors Buffs who reeled off wins in the first five through Dave Batty, Stuart Lawton, Tex Gallagher, Ray Dutton and Damian Eustace.

Mark Sinclair hit back for an already-beaten St Michael's.

But Buffs added insult to injury by taking the final game thanks to Alan Moran.

Widnes Bowling Club, away to Corpy, retrieved an early deficit to win comfortably 5-2.

Alan Magee's early success for Bowler was overridden by P Jerram and B Mercer.

But Corpy's advantage was short-lived as Tex Bowles levelled the scores at 2-2.

Two further wins, from Peter Bowles and Ben Lyons, took WBC past the winning post with G White adding to Corpy's dismay.

Section Two's Mill Brow overcame an early alarm at home to newcomers Crow's Nest who took the first two games through Jamie Donegan and Neil Maher.

But Brow soon got their act together, taking the last five games through Paul Woodward, Chris Bright, John Glover, Steve Miller and Ray Booth to grab the points 5-2.

Widnes Rec suffered badly at the hands of 6-1 winners Halton Stadium, who took the first three in a row through Kurt Mathews (15 darts), Eric Peel and Barry Stanners.

Vaughan Evans retaliated but the Stadium completed the rout with wins from John Bowles, Joe Price (17 darts) and Phil Corless.

The league's AGM is at RAOB Club, Sayce Street, on Monday at 8pm, and all team secretaries are encouraged to attend.
