YOUNGSTERS set the pace in the Chester and District schools cross country event at Christleton High School.

Hundreds of pupils from schools across Chester took part in the event, with a big incentive for those who placed well.

The top 20 finishers in each age group will go on to compete in the county championships in Ellesmere Port in January.

In the team categories, King’s School Chester won the senior boys group and shared the inter boys title with Christleton High. Tarporley Primary School were victorious in the junior boys and the minor boys categories.

The King’s School took most of the honours in the girls competition, winning the senior, inter and minor girls titles. Tarporley Primary School prevented a clean sweep by taking the junior girls category.
