THE captain of Ellesmere Port CC is appealing for cricketers, particularly younger adult players, to join his revolution this season.

Winter net practice starts at the Epic Leisure Centre on Sunday, January 31 and Port skipper Gareth Boys is looking to rebuild his team for success.

Despite a disappointing season in 2009 where the Cheshire Alliance side narrowly avoided relegation to Division Three, it is not ‘out with the old’ at Whitby Sports and Social Club.

But Boys wants to liven things up with some new blood committed to future success and promotion.

“We want to win things and get out of second division of the Alliance,” he said. “I want people to come along who feel they can help us do that. We particularly would like to see some younger players who will build the future of the club and stick around for a few seasons.”

If you fancy giving cricket a try or you would like to get back into the game, then the winter nets are the place to start.

And to underline the club’s commitment to success, they have booked some nets at Old Trafford, home of Lancashire CC.

“The facilities there are excellent,” said Boys. “And it’s good for the lads to train at a top class centre.”

Net sessions, which run for 10 weeks, are free with the cost of the booking covered by club subs.
