SNOOKER: UNITED Services B inflicted the first defeat of the season on Chester and District League champions Conservative Club.

After Lea Dagher had beaten Kevin Maxwell, United Services raced into a 3-1 lead, winning the next three frames all on the black ball.

Scott Wilkie got the better of Steve Williams, Craig Thelwell edged out Dave Smith and Mattie Cox beat Eddie Jenkins on the black.

Neal Jones made it 3-2 with a win over George Brady, which included a 60 break to make it 3-2. But Jason Taylor squeezed home on the black after trailing Andy Short by 40 points to give Services a memorable victory.

United Services A and Conservative B had a close tussle in their match.

Paul Ellis got Services off to a good start with a black ball win over John Wells. But Colin Jones levelled matters with a comfortable win over Gerry Byewater.

Paul Coppock put Services ahead again with an easy win over Peter Jones but Cons came back with Dave Cooney levelling the scores on the black.

Alan Platt gave Services the lead yet again with a win over Darren Hammonds but Gary Jaros earned Cons their draw with an easy win over Roy Baker.

Upton A are finding things very tough in the First Division this season. They went down 6-0 to St Werburgh's and have only picked up two points in their last six matches. Wings A went to the top of the division with a 6-0 win over Snooker Centre.

United Services C had a good 5-1 win over Broughton Wings B with Martin Walsh recording the highest break for Division Two with a 49.

City Transport fielded a strong side against Christleton and came out on top 4-2. Gordon Dugdale, Peter Tilston and Shane Futcher started the ball rolling with wins against Mark Cook, Gareth Lloyd and John Mooney and, although Matthew Done pulled one back with a good win over Colin Morris, Wayne Davies sealed the win for Transport by defeating Mike Craig.

Kirk Shone beat Damien Futcher to make the final score 4-2 to Transport.

Upton D continued their march at the top of Division Three with a 5-1 win at Liberal.

Upton B kept their form going with a 4-2 home win against Waverton B.
