CYCLING: CRAIG Lee beat Weaver Valley clubmate Steve Thomas, before Steve reversed the result in their next race.

Buxton Cycling Club's mountain time-trial, which covered 33 miles and took in climbs at Longnor and a four-mile ascent on the Buxton to Leek road, provided the first of the weekend's races.

Lee clocked 1 hour 43 minutes 21 seconds, pipping Thomas by 28 seconds, though neither got anywhere near the 69 minutes of winner Gethin Butler.

Crewe Clairon's time-trial at Weston on Sunday brought the two riders together again with Thomas this time having the upper hand.

He was sixth in 39mins 13secs and beat Lee, who was ninth, by1min 23secs.

Meanwhile, 32 riders completed the Ron Sant Memorial Reliability Ride. Entrants elected how long the event would take them as they covered lanes around Whitchurch. Sant died last year and it was his favourite course.

This Saturday, Weaver Valley stage an event of 200km or 135km from Holmes Chapel, organised by Ron Kilby. Sunday's club run is to Lymm and leaves the Iron Bridge, Castle at 9am. Monday is club night at Moss Farm Social Club and newcomers are welcome.
