SWIMMING: CITY of Chester swimmers have featured well in the one-hour postal swim organised by the British Long Distance Swimming Association.

Brian Shenstone took the gold medal in the 70-74 age group while Tom Walker was third in the 65-69 group.

Collette Hayes was seventh in the 50-54 group and in the 55-59 group, Tony Fields was 20th.

Shenstone was the City of Chester club's only representative in the first Shrewsbury Masters at which he won four events - the 100 metres and 400 metres free-style, 100 metres backstroke and 25 metres breaststroke.

He was second in the 100 metres individual medley but was disqualified in the 25 metres butterfly. This didn't prevent him winning the overall title in the 70-74 age group.

Hayes recently returned from Australia where she was third in a 1,500 metres sea swim on the Gold Coast.

These three will be competing in the British Masters Champion-ships at the Manchester Aquatic Centre later this month.
