It's been a busy week of sport in Chester with several of the city's clubs across a number of sports in action.

We've brought together all the goings on over the past seven days. From rowing to hockey, athletics to lacrosse, here's your round-up.

Rowing

More than 160 took to the River Dee on Saturday to contest the annual Dee Autumn Head.

Run from the A55 road bridge to the end of The Meadows over a distance of 4,200 metres, and hosted by Chester’s Grosvenor Rowing Club, the race proved a popular early season choice for North West crews.

Grosvenor stormed to victory in nine of the categories with a standout perfromance coming from the novice men’s squad of Sam Larby, Tom Balicki, Adam Tilston, Juan Herran-Alonso, Richard Ives, Carl Zolman, Ross Wilkins, Hywell Griffiths, Steve Holdsworth, Ben Whyman. coxed by Gemma O’Connor.

Two weeks after winning both novice coxed fours and novice eights in Manchester at Agecroft Head, the squad repeated the feat on their home river, beating crews from Salford and Sheffield universities as well as The King’s School, Chester, in a time of 13.48 minutes.

The senior women were successful winning two events. The women’s IM2 coxed 4+ of Vicky Brookes- Fazackerley, Helen Weston, Lottie Roberts and Jess Hulson, coxed by Tilly Williams, and Tanith Allwood in a competitive women’s IM3 single race, all triumphed.

The masters quad of Tim Howe, Brian Chapman, Mark Tilston and Mike Allwood were the standout veteran performers whilst Di Moore won the women’s masters single scull event.

Grosvenor’s youngest winners of Stella Dixon and Harriet Johanson were successful in the women’s junior 17A event in their double scull.

Athletics

Ethan Greenland has warmed up for this Sunday’s Borders Road Running League fixture with a victory.

The West Cheshire AC teenager clocked a winning time of 18 minutes nine seconds at the Delamere 5km Park Run.

He was joined at the event by West Cheshire clubmate Evan Roberts (fourth in 18:52), Christy Mageean (fifth in 18:57), Alex Staniforth (seventh in 18:59), Jac Goodall (15th in 19:58), Sion Roberts (17th in 20:06), and Charlie Weaver (18th in 20:09).

Other West Cheshire AC finishers at Delamere included Harri Britton (32nd in 21:47), Ben Mason (60th in 23:33), Molly Jones (63rd in 23:42), Charlie Clarke (65th in 23:48), Henry Robinson (68th in 23:52), Ellie Robinson (69th in 23:53), Rory Willson (86th in 24:47), Adam Howe (107th in 25:40), Kay Hayes (111th in 25:47), Pamela Ackroyd (153rd in 27:52), Leon Moorhouse (171st in 29:09), Ivor Smith (232nd in 32:17), Peter Smith (233rd in 32:18), and Lily Moorhouse (271st in 34:00).

Running

Tattenhall Runners secured glory on the mountainous North East Wales countryside as they took top spot at the Clywdian Hills Fell Race.

Thirteen members of the club took part in the race, which started and finished in the Flintshire village of Cilcain.

On what proved to be the hottest November day since 1946; on an experienced field of 159 runners took to the hills around a 14km with a total ascent of over 770m.

First home for Tattengall was Peter Taylor while the club’s sole podium finish went to Ali Grundy who finished second in the FV40 category and was sixth female overall.

Strength, however, came in numbers and, with 39 clubs competing for the ‘King of Moel Famau’ trophy, Tattenhall’s 13 runners strode into first place.

Lacrosse

Three Queen’s girls have been selected for the U18 Cheshire lacrosse team despite all being in the under-15 category.

Dakota Chamberlain, 14, from Holywell was selected for the A squad and Emily Rossiter, 15, from Tarporley and Karla Evans, 14, from Chester for the B squad.

“It was a great experience playing with girls who are so much older and so highly skilled,” said Chamberlain.

“We’re all excited for the season ahead.”

Chamberlain has also been selected for the U18 Lacrosse Metro Squad.

The Metros are an elite squad of U18s lacrosse players selected from clubs across the North of England who participate in an exchange tour to the North East states of the America.

She will travel to the state of Maryland to stay with a host family for three weeks at the end of July 2016 with the return exchange games taking place at various venues throughout the North of England in July 2017.

The squad will begin training in the New Year meaning Chamberlain now has a busy few months ahead with Cheshire, England Academy and Metros training.

Hockey

Deeside Ramblers reigned in Spain as their young girls won a tournament in Barcelona.

The under 14s and U16s both impressed abroad, and the older age group beat Atletico Terassa 3-0 in the final to finish as champions.

Meanwhile, the mens 2nds edged Southport 2-1, the 3rds beat Liverpool Sefton 2nds 6-2, the 4ths saw off Macclesfield 2nds 5-2, and the 5ths overcame Bangor 4-1.
