Chester Romans welcomed almost 50 rookies to the first of two open days on Sunday.

Romans, who compete in the BAFA National North West League, ended the 2014 season with an 8-2 record and are recruiting for the 2015 campaign.

Newcomers at the open day at The Cheshire County Sports Club in Upton were given an introduction to some of the basics of the sport.

Another open day is being held at the UCE Academy in Ellesmere Port from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, November 9.

Pre-season skills and drills training starts the following week at the same venue and is limited to rookies and first years until the New Year, allowing them to learn the fundamentals without coming up against senior players straight away.

Romans run an academy for ages 14-19 and a ladies team in addition to the senior side and no experience is needed to attend the open days.

All positions are open and attendees will receive expert guidances from coaches and senior players.
