Weaver Valley's Carl Ruebotham looks on target for a top-10 finish in the British Best All Rounder Series.
He won the Manchester 50-mile time trial by more than minute to help bring his dream closer to reality.
Ruebotham clocked 1hr 54min 20secs to win the event, an impressive time for the Cheshire course used.
All he had to do at the weekend was ride a good 12-hour trial and he rattled up a total 279 miles at the Elmet CC event to finish third overall.
The winner, Kevin Dawson, chalked up 293 miles, but Ruebotham should have done enough to appear in the top 10, especially after his performances earlier in the season over 50 and 100 miles.
Weaver Valley stalwarts, Mark Thompson and Dave Astles travel to Belgium on Thursday to compete in the Road Racing World Champs - Thompson riding in the 60-plus category and Astles in the over 50s.
The championships take place on Sunday on a small circuit on the outskirts of Gent. Both riders are competing on Friday to gain experience of the style of racing to expect.
A large field of more than 200 riders is expected to start both championship races. It is Thompson's second appearance at the event and Astles' fifth.
