Easter weekend sees the opening round of the British GT Championship at the picturesque Oulton Park circuit, featuring a feast of motorsport action.

The British GT Championship is enjoying a boom in popularity as this meeting is expected to see a capacity 34-car grid featuring well-known marques such as Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari and McLaren.

The field is evenly split into two categories. They are GT3, which features former British Touring Car Championship stars Mat Jackson and Jonny Adam, and GT4, which features the all-female pairing of Jade and Chloe Edwards.

Tarporley's Tom Oliphant will join Rick Parfitt Jr, son of the Status Quo legend, in the Team LNT Ginetta GT3, while Chester's Jamie Wall teams up with Tim Eakin in the Ultra Tek racing Lotus Evora GT4.

In addition, Chester-born Jamie Stanley will partner Paul McNeilly in Fox Motorsport's G55 Ginetta GT4.

Over the course of two days, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday, there will be a packed programme of 15 races, including the two one-hour British GT events on Monday.

Oulton Park will see frantic action on track and in the pits, as a mandatory pitstop is required of all the teams in each race.

The main support for the British GT championship this year is the fledgling BRDC F4 Championship, which is now the nation's leading single-seater category following the demise of British F3 last year.

The series has been created to provide a route for younger racers on their intended road to Formula One, with former King's School Chester pupil and current GP3 driver Seb Morris among its race winners.

Also featuring over the two days will be the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, the Volkswagen Racing Cup, the F3 Cup and the Super Series for classic Formula Ford cars.
