An exodus of boxing fans from Ellesmere Port to the ECHO Arena in Liverpool will make for a night to remember, according to Paul Butler.

Former IBF world bantamweight champion Butler will be the headline act on a blockbuster show at the venue on Saturday, October 25.

Promoter Frank Warren has put together a stacked card featuring some of the most popular Merseyside boxers including Derry Matthews, Liam Smith and Kevin Satchell.

But the presence of Butler and fellow Ellesmere Port fighters Matty Fagan and Mason Cartwright means it will be an extra special night for the town.

Butler said: “The ECHO will be rocking and it’ll be great to be part of it and to see some of the other lads fighting too.

“Derry Matthews always puts on a great show and you’ve got Chris Eubank Jnr there too.

“It’s the first time in a long time that there’s been three lads from Ellesmere Port on the same show and it’s great for the town.”

Butler, 25, has been a revelation since turning professional in 2010 and has won all 16 contests, including eight inside the distance.

His rapid rise led to him winning the British, Commonwealth and WBA and WBO Intercontinental titles as a super-flyweight.

Butler stepped up to bantamweight in March, winning the WBA Intercontinental belt before his finest moment to date.

He out-pointed champion Stuart Hall in June to become a world champion in his 16th fight.

Butler vacated the belt less than a month later to return to super-flyweight and has targeted WBA world champion Kohei Kono for his October ring-date, although that fight has still to be made.

Butler, Fagan and Cartwright are all products of the Vauxhall Motors and Wirral Community Police amateur club and now train out of Arnie’s Gym in Failsworth, Manchester.

Fagan, 26, has won all six of his contests since making his professional debut in 2011.

He has been climbing through the rankings in the competitive lightweight division but has suggested his long-term future lies at super-featherweight.

Fagan, who scored an easy points win over Ismail Anwar in his last bout, will be out to make it seven straight wins at the ECHO Arena.

Cartwright had a fine amateur career and will be making his professional debut on October 25.

Tickets for the ‘Magnificent Seven Fight Again’ at £40, £50, £75, £100 and £150 are available from the Liverpool Echo Arena Box Office on 0844 8000 400 or www.echoarena.com.
