Bowls: Groves on a roll after whin over Whitby

SL GROVES secured a hard-fought 258-247 home win over Whitby BC in the Ellesmere Port Round Robin League.

John Griffiths (21-4) and Dave Griffiths (21-7) stood out for Groves while Dot Lloyd (21-10) did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Ledsham maintained their flying start with a 224-216 victory over Woodland in the big top-of-the-table clash.

Alan Seymour (21-6) and John Fowles (21-8) stood out for the hosts with Tudor Griffiths (21-11) the top-carder for Woodland.

Reg Ashton (21-7) caught the eye as Little Sutton edged their way to 240-233 home victory over Groves.

Bob Owen (21-8) and John Davis (21-9) impressed for Groves.

Little Sutton B (Flo Hunter 21-4, Joe Peers 21-5) romped to a 270-178 success at home to Octel (Ron Skitt 21-6).
