A BRACE from Rob Bowden launched Winnington towards avenging a pre-season friendly defeat at Sir John Deane's College on Saturday.

The match was more evenly contested than the scoreline suggests, with the home side's superior finishing proving the difference.

Park were six players down and captain Adam Kueures defensive reshuffle produced a dogged backline that limited Northop's chances.

Park were incisive on the counter attack and created clear cut chances for their forwards, while midfielders Dave Leech and Andy Jackson retained the ball and gave Steve Campagnaro and Jonny Kettle good service on the flanks.

Bowden opened the scoring and Chris Mottershaw produced an accomplished finish to double the lead.

Campagnaro's cross after the break was fiercely converted by Kettle before Bowden wrapped up the goal-mouth action.

Park 2nds produced a gritty performance to overcome Bebington 3rds 4-3.

Goals by Sam Cloake and Matt Morley put Park in charge, but Bebington pulled level. Morley and a John Stackhouse penalty restored the two goal advantage until the final minute.

Will Egglestone, Tim Boxall, Mark Whalley gave Park 3rds a 3-1 win at Knutsford 3rds.
