CHESHIRE Jets will finish no lower than fourth in this year’s BBL Championship after they made an instant return to winning ways on Sunday with a 117-94 home victory over Leicester Riders.

Gareth Murray led from the front as Paul Smith’s side bounced back from their previous night’s defeat at bogey team Plymouth Raiders.

Jet boss Smith said: “I was very impressed with the overall team performance. We have recovered our sense of efficiency and are back to shooting the ball well.

“Gareth Murray had a stellar performance, particularly in the first half. I hope this stands us in good stead for the play-offs.”

Murray scored 28 points to ensure his side shook off a Riders outfit battling to secure their place in the end-of-season play-offs.

Jeremy Bell (22) and Matt Schneck (19) also had their shooting boots on for the Jets, who had lost a tight game to the in-form Raiders 102-94 on Saturday.

Bell (28), supported by Quemont Greer (23) and Murray (14), led all-scorers.

On-fire duo Bell (39) and Schneck (28) also did most of the damage in the comfortable 106-83 success at rock-bottom Essex Pirates last Wednesday.

The Jets complete their regular season this weekend when they head to Worthing Thunder on Saturday (7.30pm) before hosting Worcester Wolves on Sunday (5.30pm).
