ROB Tudor steered West Cheshire AC to a team victory at the Essar Guilden Sutton 10k road race.

The over-45 veteran was backed-up by team-mates Andrew Clague, Neil Hershaw, and Mark Carruthers to earn the club success.

Tudor clocked 34 minutes and 28 seconds for fifth spot overall, behind eventual winner Liam Renton (Warrington AC), who posted 33:42.

Clague finished 18th in 38:05, while Hershaw clocked 38:17 for 20th position and Carruthers covered the course in 39:32 for 33rd place.

Chester-based under 20 junior lady Tessa McCormick (Vale Royal AC) won the ladies title after clocking 37:29, ahead of Jayne Joy (Helsby) in 39:14.

Tattenhall Runners’ trio of Emma Baker (ninth in 44:38), Sara Atkinson (11th in 45:53) and Amanda Davies (12th in 46:03), won the ladies team prize, ahead of runners-up Helsby whose team comprised of Joy, Carol Ann Shaw (17th in 48:01) and Janey Shaw (42nd in 55:56).

Chester Triathlon Club finished third in the men’s team event and fourth in the ladies team competition.

Michael Lee headed the Tri club’s men’s team by posting 39:02 for 27th place, ahead of Rob Jones (42nd in 40:10), Michael Waring (44th in 40:30) and Kevin Dandy (46th in 40:37).

Anna Barnes was first home for the Tri club’s ladies team with 48:13 for 18th spot, ahead of Susan Jane Walsh (31st in 53:02) and Xana Page (46th in 57:47).

Olivia Montez-Brown clinched third position at the English Schools Combined Events Championships.

The West Cheshire AC all-rounder, who lives in Ellesmere Port and attends Ellesmere Port Catholic High School, compiled 4,330 points to secure a podium place in the Intermediate Girls Heptathlon at Bedford.

Two West Cheshire AC teams secured podium places at the North West Road Relay Championships held at Marbury Park, Northwich.

The trio of Sophie Hemingbrough (11:07), Issy Clarke (11:30) and Sophie O’Kines (11:56) earned West Cheshire AC third place in the county event with 34:33, and 13th place in the North West race.

Christy Mageean (third fastest leg with 9:29), Sam Grinter (10:42) and Curtis Rodway (10:55) combined to earn the U15 boys team third team spot in the Cheshire event and seventh place overall in 31:06.

Andrew Clague was first home for West Cheshire AC at the second round of the Wirral Multi-Terrain League.

He posted 32:06 for 33rd position at the 4.9-mile course.
