A WEST Cheshire AC athlete has crowned a memorable year with an international success.

Multi-eventer Olivia Montez-Brown, 16, represented England at the Schools International Pentathlon match staged in Glasgow, where she won individual and team gold for her country in the over 18 girls competition.

Olivia, who lives in Great Sutton and is a pupil at Ellesmere Port Catholic High School, posted a new personal best of 3,345 points.

She hit 8.87m in the shot put and clocked a new personal best 60m hurdles time of 8.92 seconds, before long jumping 5.49m and clearing 1.54m in the high jump.

Olivia then rounded the 800m in a time of two minutes 37.5 seconds and was supported by her team-mates Emily Dixon, Rhiann Beaumont and Jordanna Morrish to earn England pole position.

The talented teenager has an incredible track record of success this year.

She won the Northern Indoor U17 women’s 60m hurdles title at Sheffield in January and claimed the 80m hurdles title at the Mason Trophy Inter-Counties Schools Championships in June at Stoke.

Victory in the sprint hurdles at both the Cheshire County Clubs and Schools Championships in May and June was followed by a gold medal display in the long jump at Hull in July’s Northern Championships.

Olivia won the North West Schools’ U17 Women’s Combined Events Championships at Crewe in June with 4,337 points, and finished third at Bedford in the English Schools U17 Women’s Heptathlon Championships in September with 4,330 points.
