WEST Cheshire AC’s young athletes were in medal-winning form at the Cheshire County Junior Combined Events Championships.

Zac Barnsley was crowned under 15 boys pentathlon champion at the Macclesfield event. He finished with 2,110 points after his appearances in the 80m hurdles, shot, long jump, high jump and 800m.

Tamsin O’Keefe won a gold medal in the U11 girls triathlon with 160 points after competing in the soft javelin, long jump and 800m.

Alice Barnsley secured a silver medal from the U13 girls triathlon with 209 points after appearances in the 70m hurdles, high jump and shot.

Niall Harrison finished second in the U17 men’s pentathlon with 1,682 points after negotiating the sprint hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot and 800m.

Adam Howe claimed third position with 166 points in the U11 boys triathlon after impressive displays in the soft javelin, long jump and 800m.

Howe and O’Keefe teamed up with Will Scott to win the combined boys and girl team title with 484 points ahead of runners-up Crewe and Nantwich AC.

O’Keefe also joined forces with Neve Darlington, Anna Crayston, and Ellie Finn to win the U11 girls 4x100m relay, while Jac Goodall, Eamonn O’Connell, Max Holland and Harri Britton combined to win the U13 boys relay.

The West Cheshire quartet of Alice Barnsley, Sophie Hemingbrough, Abbie Williams,and Emma Howe grabbed glory in the U13 girls 4x100m relay.

Emily Ball won gold medals at the Colwyn Bay Games at Eirias Park.

The West Cheshire AC all-rounder hit 10.75m in the shot, spun the discus to 28m and secured success in the javelin.

Mark Davies (27th in 36:07), Steve Cunningham (28th in 36:21), Mark Povey (45th in 40:46), Jim Jones (37th in 39:28), and Brian Beattie (56th in 45:01) represented West Cheshire AC at the fourth round of the Deestriders Off Road Grand Prix staged at Shotton.

West Cheshire AC multi-eventer Olivia Montez-Brown will represent Cheshire this weekend at the English Schools Combined Events Championships at Bedford.
