HALTON and Frodsham Harriers have been going for gold in Birmingham and Liverpool.

Harriers duo Michaela Campbell and Ellie McCarthy were members of Cheshire’s under 13 girls team at the Aviva Sportshall Challenge National Final, Birmingham.

The U13s team finished seventh overall, with Michaela clocking 24.6 seconds in the two-lap race and notching 6.67m in the triple jump. In the high jump, Ellie cleared 1.33m.

Jonathan Ashton was in the U15 boys Cheshire team, taking 53rd in the ‘all-rounder’ competition, helping the team to take a creditable ninth-place finish.

In the two-lap race, Jonathan clocked 22.1secs while he scored 70 in the speed bounce and jumped 2.42m in the long jump.

Harriers members also competed in an open meeting in Liverpool, returning with a haul of medals.

Under 11 girl Emelia Clark won three golds, in the 75m, 150m and the long jump.

U11 boy Dean Rix was a silver medal winner in the 75m, taking second place in 11.7s. He was also third in the 150m in 23.5s.

Tom Price won the two gold medals in the U13 boys 100m and 200m, while U15 boy Mark Knight also took double gold – in the 100m and 200m.

Harriers club coach Nick Massey took part in the London Marathon, finishing in four hours, five minutes and 53 seconds.
