SAUGHALL Primary School celebrated success at the Chester Inter-School Cross Country event.

The action took place at Overleigh St Mary’s Primary School in Handbridge.

Saughall won the Year 3/4 boys team event from runners-up Mickle Trafford, while Saughall’s Year 5/6 girls finished joint winners with Overleigh St Mary’s.

The team results were: Y3/4 Girls: 1 Upton Heath; 2 Hoole; 3 Saughall; 4 Christleton. Y3/4 Boys: 1 Saughall; 2 Mickle Trafford; 3 Tarporley; 4 Overleigh St Mary’s. Y5/6 Girls: 1 (equal) Overleigh St Mary’s and Saughall; 3 Hoole; 4 Guilden Sutton. Y5/6 Boys: 1 Tarporley; 2 Guilden Sutton; 3 Overleigh St Mary’s; 4 Saughall.

Overall results: 1 Saughall 320 points; 2 Overleigh St Mary’s 383; 3 Upton Heath 386; 4 Hoole 391; 5 Mickle Trafford 417; 6 Tarporley 419; 7 Waverton 493; 8 Oldfield 586; 9 Guilden Sutton 632; 10 Duddon 661; 11 Acresfield 823; 12 St Oswalds 825; 13 Kelsall 912.

Stanney Oaks track in Ellesmere Port is the setting for the final round of the West Cheshire AC Schools Cross Country series this Saturday (first race starts at 10am).

The popular event attracts runners from the Chester, Ellesmere Port, Neston, and Helsby areas.
