CONWY Fisheries played host to Wirral Borough AC on Saturday.

Barry Davies led the way with a 31lb bag from peg 10. He made use of pole-fished maggot at 9m for a single small carp and plenty of roach and skimmers.

Ellesmere Port angler Jeff Grantham was runner-up with all small F1 carp totalling 28lb.

Fellow Portite Dougie Walsh was third with similar fish for 23lb. He caught with both pellet and maggot from peg 12 on 6m pole.

Members of Lobol AC were in action in the club’s Winter League match on the Priory Pool.

Whitby’s Geoff Selby topped with 4lb 8oz from peg 22. He Geoff bagged lots of small roach and skimmers with bread on the pole in the margins for victory.

Second place went to Peter Cooke, drawn on peg three. He made use of pinkies on the hook with the pole netting ide and roach for 2lb 8oz.

Peg 14 provided Linda Cooke with third place as she netted 1lb 11oz of ide and perch also with pinkies as bait. John Parker landed a single ide for 1lb 7oz with maggot from peg 6 for fourth place.

Linda Cooke was also in action in last Tuesday’s final cost-cutter match of the season at Hampton Springs Fishery.

Drawn on peg 28 of Rock Pool, she weighed in joint first with an impressive 24lb 13oz.

Cooke netted common carp of up to 5lb with corn on the tip along with a mixture of skimmers, crucians and roach with pellet on the top eight sections of the pole.

Barry Gabriel tied for top spot from peg one on Alice Springs. He made use of pole-fished pellet and corn for a good number of skimmers along with a few small carp.

Chris Hughes finished third with 21lb 7oz of similar mixed fish that fell to pellet on the pole from peg 16 on Meadow Pool. He was followed in fourth by Keith Bean with a close 21lb 1oz of carp and skimmers.

Eddy’s Fishing Supplies team member Graham Lewis grabbed second place in the Sunday open match at Partridge Lakes, Warrington. Lewis, from Ellesmere Port, weighed in with 20lb of F1s and mirror carp.
