MEMBERS of Rivacre AC were in action at Lower Ridge Farm in Saughall on Saturday, competing in their final club match of the season.

Top rod was Ellesmere Port’s Dougie Walsh with 16lbs 12oz of ide and carp. From peg 16, Walsh made use of the pole at around 10m to the end of the island with maggot on the hook.

Next best was Ian Simpson, drawn on peg 10.

Simpson weighed in with 12lbs 1oz fishing at a variety of distances, with maggot for F1s and carp. Port angler Ian Lloyd squeezed in third by a couple of ounces on peg 10. He bagged ide and a single F1 carp for 10lbs 10oz from peg 19, doing just enough to place Elton’s Rob Dickenson fourth with 10lbs 8oz of ide and roach.

Port match angler Mark Greasley was in good form in last Tuesday’s cost-cutter match at Hampton Springs Fishery.

Greasley finished as runner-up on Alice Springs, netting 19lbs 12oz of skimmers with pole-fished maggot. The only other competitor to better this was winner, Neil Hunt from Tydlesley. Hunt won with exactly 22lbs of carp taken on pole fished to the island from peg nine on Poplars.

Ian Hughes and Paul Gerrard shared third spot with 18lbs 8oz apiece.

Fly angler Brian Evans landed the best trout of the week at Tattenhall’s Cheshire Fishing. Evans, from Ellesmere Port, lured an immense 14lbs 8oz rainbow trout with a black tadpole from Pool One.
