ELLESMERE Port-based Rod ‘n’ Reel team members Richard Hughes and Steve Dean performed well in Sunday’s open match at Weston Pools, finishing second and third respectively.

Hughes drew peg 10 on Stretton Lake and wasted no time in bringing 84lbs 13oz to the net.

Using luncheon meat on the pole close in at 4m, he took a good number of carp to take the runners-up spot by a whisker.

The winner was Chris Lewis with 86lbs 1oz from adjacent peg 12 that fell to pellet and meat on the method feeder.

Dean won his lake from peg two on Canal with carp, barbell and F1s for 83lbs 12oz. Around 70 fish were brought to the net by the Port angler that fed on caster fished shallow and worm presented down the edge of the swim.

Members of Wirral Borough AC returned to Chester Lakes to compete in their club match on Saturday.

On Lake Number two of the Dodleston venue ,Jason Jones topped with 34lbs 7oz of carp weighing up to about 1lbs 8oz. He made use of pellet on the deck at 10m, feeding pellet for his winning weight.
