MEMBERS of Blacon’s St Theresa’s AC were in action at Heronbrook Fisheries in Staffordshire on Sunday.

Competing on Meadow Pool, Gary Rowlands bagged an impressive 70lb 13oz from peg one to win a closely contested affair.

He netted eight mirror and common carp, his best being 10lb on the tip fished into a swim in the corner with corn on the hook.

Drawn on peg 14 Andy Griffiths had to be content with second place as he bagged 70lb 1oz. Andy’s son Scott weighed in with another good weight of 65lb 12oz for third.

Stuart Davies of Chester Tackle Locker grabbed third place in the Thursday open match at Hampton Springs Fishery.

Drawn on peg three on Rock Pool, Davies found both corn and pellet fished on the pole effective for mixed carp weighing in with a good 60lb 10oz.

Chris Diamond bagged a superb 136lb 8oz for victory from peg eight on the same lake. Ray Rigby finished as runner- up with a level 73lb of carp and barbel.

Chester Tackle Locker’s Gary Vincent took fourth place in the Tuesday Cost-Cutter match at Hampton. Drawn on peg 47 of Long Island, Vincent bagged a level 58lb of carp, tench, crucians and skimmers on both the method feeder and pole with meat on the hook. Top rod was Chris Diamond with an excellent 92lb 6oz bag from peg 12 on Meadow Pool.

Second place went to Mal Turney with a good 80lb 4oz.

High winds hampered competitors in the Friday open match at Glasdir Fishery. Blacon angler Pete Hodge led the way with 28lb 13oz. Phil Iball weighed in with 25lb 12oz for second place from peg 15. Tyrone Davies took a mixture of roach, ide and carp totalling 18lb 10oz to finish third.

Wednesday’s Commoners AC match at Common Wood Fishery was won by Dave Furlong from Vicars Cross. Furlong bagged 20lb 2oz of predominantly skimmers with a single carp. Reg Gilbert weighed in second with a level 12lb of roach and carp using similar tactics. Third place went to Blacon angler Pete Hodge (11lb 8oz).

Pleasure anglers have enjoyed some good weights at Cheshire Fishing, Tattenhall.

Paul Dutton took a 62lb bag from pool two. He fished the feeder rod with red maggot on the hook over a feed of micro-pellet, taking mixed carp of up to 8lb, bream to 5lb, roach and skimmers.

Mike Wilson from Blacon netted around 60lb of fish during his session on pool two. Pool seven, a new pool recently opened to coarse anglers, provided some good sport for Keith Pitchford. He landed an excellent 4lb eel that fed on cubed meat fished on the bomb.
