Runners from secondary schools all over Cheshire West braved the elements for the annual Chester and District Cross Country championships at Christleton High School last week.

Girls from Year 7-13 competed on Monday, October 20 and the boys battled high winds and rain the following Tuesday.

Team winners: Minors Year 7 King’s (boys) and Christleton (girls); Junior Year 8 & 9 Christleton (boys and girls); Inter Years 10 & 11 Christleton (boys), Queen’s (girls) and Seniors Years 12 & 13 King’s 9 (boys and girls).

Individual winners: (Minor) Tom Hughes, of The King’s School and Tamsin O’Keefe, of Christleton High School; (Junior) Sion Roberts and Issy Clarke, both of Tarporley High School; (Inter) Matt Willis, of The King’s School and Martha Owen of The Queen’s School; (Senior) Zack Hollond of Bishop Heber High School and Alice Gooda of The Queen’s School.

The following schools took part: Abbey Gate College, Bishops’ Blue Coat, Bishop Heber, Chester Catholic High, Christleton, Tarporley, The King’s School, The Queen’s School, Upton and Whitby High School.
