BLACON High School are celebrating winning the Chester Schools FA Year 7 seven-a-side tournament.

Blacon, managed by Lee Cairns and John Davies, kept their cool to beat Christleton High School, managed by John Davies and Calum McIntyre, on penalties after the final ended 1-1.

The event was held on grass at Abbey Gate College and organised by the school’s director of PE, Chris Cutler, who is also chairman of the Chester Schools FA.

The medals were presented by John Davies on behalf of Complete Sports Solutions, who are sponsoring all 18 of this season’s Chester Schools FA secondary school competitions.

Chester Schoolboys Under 14s produced an outstanding performance to record a resounding 6-0 success at Wirral Schoolboys U14s in their opening Cheshire Alcock Cup clash on Saturday.

The football played by committed Chester, who are managed by Mark Lindley, Dave Sabri and Lee Cairns, was a pleasure to watch.

Harry Pickering broke the deadlock in the 15th minute ran he ran through the Wirral defence and hammered home an unstoppable shot.

Fantastic link-up play led to Tom Crawford adding a second 10 minutes later.

Chester made it three when half-time substitute Jack Davies rounded the goalkeeper and scored the first of his two goals.

Further strikes from Pickering and Liam Williams put the game beyond doubt.

Kieran Trevor hit a hat-trick as Chester Schoolboys won 4-1 at home to West Lancashire Schoolboys in the English Schools FA Under 15s Inter-Association Trophy on Saturday.

Dominic Hadley scored a great header to seal victory for the mightily impressive hosts.

Chester coach Steve Reddy said: “I was very proud of the way the lads performed.

“If we can keep all players fit and play to our full potential we can be a match for anybody in this competition.”

Earlier in the week it was confirmed that nine Chester players had made the 20-man Cheshire Schools U15s squad.
