CHESTER Allstars will this weekend bid to become national champions.

The talented schoolboys side will take on the best teams for their age group in the country at Saturday’s English Schools’ FA Under 11s Inter-Association Trophy final.

They booked their place at the big event, to be staged at the Chelsea FC Academy, for the second year running by taking their fantastic form into the recent North of England finals held at the Sunderland FC Academy.

The Allstars, representing the county as Cheshire champions, drew with hosts Sunderland before beating a host of high quality opposition including York, Blackburn, North Lonsdale and the mighty Leeds in the semi-finals.

The Allstars ultimately lost the final to Cleveland and Redcar.

But their second-placed finish ensured that they, along with Cleveland and Redcar, will represent the North of England in Saturday’s showpiece.

Allstars manager Chris Timms said: “To achieve this success last year was fantastic as it was the first time we had taken part.

“But to repeat the success has been even more satisfying and required lots of hard work, dedication and some top performances from the lads.”
