CHESTER Allstars have been denied in their quest to make it a hat-trick of titles.

The talented young team lost 1-0 to holders Liverpool Schoolboys in the final of the ESFA Under 11s North West Cup at Wrexham’s Colliers Park training base on Friday.

The Allstars, who are the Cheshire and national futsal champions for their age group, played some superb football after a nervy start and were more than a match for their highly rated opponents.

But it was Liverpool, the national seven-a-side U11s champions, who edged a wonderful spectacle for schoolboy football with a deflected winner three minutes from time.

Allstars manager Chris Timms said: “I am truly proud of this team and what they have achieved this season so far.

“To compete so well against such a top side really does emphasise these players’ ability.”

The Allstars, who are made up of the best Year 6 players in the Chester & District area, defend their Cheshire crown tomorrow.

Malpas & District remain six points clear of Saughall Colts at the top of Chester & District Junior League Under 11s Division Two.

Malpas (Craig Norris 3, Goncalo Branco 2, Tom Fenney, Will Halewood, Alfie Smith) maintained their commanding advantage with an 8-2 win at Groves Rangers on Sunday.

Led by man-of-the-match George Germany, Saughall kept up the chase with a 4-3 victory at Porto Panthers given to them by Joseph Guest (2), Callum Cope and Joseph Evans.

MoM Antony Jones (2) and Lloyd Lashmir took the Panthers close.

In U14s Division Two, Malpas & District (Oliver Hailes; MoM Ben Black) earned an excellent 1-1 draw at Waverton Bees.

And in U15s Division Two, Malpas & District (Tom Joesbury 3, Jonnie Wright, Jack Flaherty, Ryan Jones) won 6-0 at home to Hope Farm.
