Schoolchildren from across Chester came together to take part in a hockey extravaganza.

Organised by Deeside Ramblers  Hockey Club and held at their Tiverton home, Boughton Heath Primary School A emerged victorious out of eight schools taking  part.

In a well contested competition  which escaped the recent bad  weather, Boughton Heath overcame a strong Overleigh St. Mary’s team to claim victory with a hard-fought 2-0 win.

The sides had to battle their way through to the final, with Overleigh St. Mary’s beating Lache  Primary School 3-1 in the semi-final, while Boughton Heath A  squeezed past St Werburgh’s  Primary School on penalty  strokes after playing out a 0-0  draw after extra time.

Deeside  Ramblers stalwart John Heath said: “It was a fantastic event played in marvellous conditions and the children really enjoyed it.

“It was fantastic to see so many  children down here playing and enjoying the game of hockey.”
