Saighton triumph in Small Schools Tournament

Young footballers through to regional final at Crewe Alexandra

Saighton Primary School winners of the Chester Small Schools Tournament

Saighton Primary School won the Chester Small Schools Tournament for the first time in their history after a dramatic competition at Christleton High.

Saighton didn’t concede a goal in five matches and played some great passing football.

Eight teams competed for the trophy and after highly competitive group stages the four semi-finalists were Saighton, Tilston, St Oswald’s and St Theresa’s.

Reigning champions St Oswald’s overcame Tilston before falling to Saighton in the final.

Both Saighton and St Oswald’s will now play in the regional finals at Crewe Alexandra Football Academy in January with a chance to progress to the national finals later in the year.
