Stung by late show

WAVERTON Wasps produced a stunning comeback to win their big Chester & District Junior League Under 14s Division One clash.

The table-topping Wasps were heading for only their third defeat of the season when they trailed with five minutes to go at home to second-placed Chester Nomads.

But three goals in an incredible spell ensured they won a thrilling contest 5-3.

Matt Sheen (2), Sam Jones, Aaron Hassell and Jorge Percival shared the strikes for the Wasps, whose man of the match was Charlie Nicholson.

Princes Villa drew 1-1 at home to Groves Athletic.

Newton Athletic Youth also showed amazing powers of recovery to edge their top-versus-bottom Division Two battle at Westminster Park Lions 5-3.

The Lions stormed into a commanding early lead through hat-trick hero Chris McCartney, with each of his three goals being set-up by MoM Joseph Speed.

But the pacesetters fought back to stay top from a second-placed Upton side who won 7-1 at home to Princes Villa Colts.

Waverton Bees (James Cope; MoM Sam Arnold/Harry Woodward) lost 5-1 at home to Hope Farm Rangers.

Waverton took over at the summit of the Under 15s Division with a 5-2 home win over Upton.

Jack Gittins, Cam Noyes, Tom Richardson and Andy Reeves got their names of the scoresheet for the new leaders, whose man-of-the-match award was shared between Connor Johnson and Max Champion.

JFC Boughton are hot on Waverton heels after a 4-1 victory at Saughall Colts given to them by MoM Liam Blake (4).

Park Saints maintained their Under 16s Division One title charge with a 3-2 home success over Pulford.

George Carroll, Jeff Norris and Stuart Swift struck for the Saints, for whom Tadgh Gregory was the man of the match.

Vicars Cross Dynamos lost ground with a 7-1 reverse at Newton Athletic Youth.

And, led by MoM Dillon Walker, table-topping Princes Villa took advantage of the Dynamos slip with a 2-0 triumph at Malpas & District.

Elton (Jonathon Alpas; MoM Thomas Johnson) earned an excellent 1-1 draw at Division Two pacesetters Waverton (Max Frickel).

Chester Nomads (MoM Dean Lawrence) drew 3-3 draw at Hope Farm Rangers while Westminster Park went down 5-3 at Rossway United.

Two games took place in the Under 17s Division with Upton winning 6-1 at home to Blacon Youth (Ben Roberts) and Vicars Cross Dynamos shading a seven-goal thriller at home to Pulford 4-3.

Business as usual

RUNAWAY Under 11s Division One leaders Blacon Youth returned to winning ways with an 8-1 home victory over Waverton Jets.

Man-of-the-match Kieran Ball (2), Leyton Ashford (2), Jake Tonge, Sam Ward, Brandon Burrows and Jake Dean did the damage.

JFC Boughton (Taylor Williams 2) drew 2-2 at home to Malpas & District (Will Morris, Theo Coulter; MoM Ben Smith) as Vicars Cross Dynamos (Owen Bennett; MoM Cameron Bradley) were beaten 2-1 at Groves Athletic.

Saughall Colts moved into pole position in Division Two with a 7-2 success at Westminster Park Lions (MoM Ethan Sands, Joseph Burns).

Upton dropped to second after they had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Westminster Park Tigers (Will Cotgrove, Matthew Jones; MoM Joe Clegg/Connor Davies).

Elton Youth (Ben Tideswell 2; MoM Ash Hughes) lost 3-2 at home to Princes Villa (Jordan Owen, Jonathan M Walley, OG).

Awesome foursome

KEENAN Beaumont made it four hat-tricks in as many matches as Under 12s Division table-toppers Blacon Youth won 7-3 at Waverton.

Will Hannigan (2), Mike Woollam and Tom Rose completed the scoring for Blacon, for whom James Lloyd was named man of the match.

Chester Nomads Colts (MoM Ben Stubbs 3, Lee Bryce, Joe Polding) were 5-0 winners at Westminster Park while it finished 2-2 between Malpas & District (Kieran Rose, Christophe Fostier) and Upton.

A hat-trick from man-of-the-match Harvey France and a superb George Back strike were the highlights of Chester Nomads’ 7-2 home win over Waverton Wasps in Under 13s Division One.

Luke Chard (2) and Marco Apollonio were also on target for second-placed Nomads, who remain one point behind JFC Boughton after they also won 7-2, at home to Waverton Wasps.

Waverton Hornets drew 1-1 at fellow Division Two high flyers Princes Villa.

Vicars Cross Dynamos went down to a 9-0 home loss to Hope Farm Rangers.
