AN AMAZING fightback ensured Waverton Arrows came from behind to win 4-3 at home to Newton Athletic and take over pole position in Chester & District Junior League Under 11s Division A on Sunday.

The previous pacesetters were on course to make it four victories from four when they took a 3-1 lead going into the final 10 minutes of the top-of-the-table encounter. But led by man-of-the-match Miles Carter, it was Waverton who kept their 100% winning record intact as they showed amazing powers of recovery to snatch the three points with a trio of late strikes – the best coming from Luke Simm.

Hawker Jets won a one-sided encounter at Elton Youth 9-0 to move level on points with Newton.

Junior Scott, Cain Noble, Ben Lawrence, Tom Hallows, Luke Barber and Sam Fowles all found the net before goalkeeper Callum MacPherson swapped his gloves for a place in the forward line and got in on the act.

The lethal Will Blance scored all five goals as Chester Nomads made it two wins from two in Division B with a 5-0 home victory over a well-organised Waverton Wasps side.

As the league is currently without a press officer for the Under 11s Division through to the new U17s-U18s Division, The Chronicle is inviting U11s-U18s teams to email in their reports to chester.sport@cheshirenews.co.uk by 8am on Tuesdays.
