NEWTON Athletic ended Helsby’s unbeaten run on Saturday to show why they lead the Chester & District Junior League Under 9s Blue Division.

Ryan Austin (2) and Euan Mackay strikes and a man-of-the-match display from James Stanley ensured Newtown edged a tight clash 3-1.

Matthew Harrison was the MoM for visiting Helsby, whose consolation came courtesy of a fine long-range effort from Harry Wynn.

Harry Blance (3), Tom Fisher, MoM Dillon Hodgkisson, Aaron Bennett, Harvey Rowlands, Pete Williamson and Callum Caulfield netted as Chester Nomads won 9-0 at home to Waverton Bees, whose MoM was Oliver Melville. Vicars Cross Dynamos enjoyed a 6-1 success at home to Princes Villa Colts.

Jack Saddler was the MoM and Leon Duckers (3), James Elms (3), Ben Shaw, Aiden Roddy and Scott Winning got the goals as on-fire Blacon Youth ran out 9-1 winners at home to Malpas & District (Ben Glaister; MoM Marcus Young) in the Red Division.

Upton Pumas sent Ellesmere Port Rangers packing 9-0 but Waverton Wasps (Harvey Suleman; MoM Daniel Attwater) lost 3-1 at Vauxhall Motors Zafira (Matthew Scott 2, MoM Thomas Barnes).

Green Division leaders Vauxhall Motors Astras (Flynn Kaye 4, Josh Merriman 3, MoM Luke Stanley, Nathan Farrington) were 9-2 winners at home to Ellesmere Port Rangers.

Newton Athletic Eagles won 3-0 at Groves.
