BLACON Youth pulled clear at the top of the Chester & District Junior League Under 10s Green Division with a 4-2 top-of-the-table victory over Newton Athletic on Saturday.

Joe Thompson (2), Owen Jones and Louis Frier struck for Blacon in an end-to-end clash which more than lived up to expectations.

Ed Campbell and Scott Ramsden were on target for Newton, for whom Daniel Goodchild was the man of the match. James Worthington took the unbeaten home side’s honour.

Waverton Rockets (Dylan Bevan-Jones 2, Archie Roebuck, Tom Powell, Alfie Baker; MoM Ted Harris) won 5-3 at home to Saughall Colts (Joe Black, MoM Zach Brookman 2) while Ellesmere Port Rovers (Matt Vickers 2, Joe O’Gorman 2, Joe Burrows, Josh Bragg, Zac Hall, Liam O’Brien, MoM Dan Malone) sent Porto Pumas packing 9-1.

Christleton Newscene made it four Blue Division wins from four with a 6-0 home success over Malpas & District Reds, whose MoM was James Jacks.

Upton Panthers (MoM George Cornes, Jamie Cheng) won 2-0 at Waverton Jets as Ellesmere Port Rangers (Jacob Adams) went down 6-1 at home to Groves Rangers.

Ben Sinclair was the MoM and Gerard Whyborn (3) and Jake Johnson (2) got the goals as Red Division leaders Hawker Jets triumphed 5-2 on a perfect pitch at Chester Nomads (Harrison Burke, David Mitchell).

Blacon Youth Tigers (Ryan Dickson, MoM Kieran Morgan) drew 2-2 at home to Newton Athletic Eagles while Elton Youth (Aaron Catterall; MoM Nick Jackson) were edged out 2-1 at home by Porto Panthers.

Upton maintained their 100% winning Yellow Division record with a 6-1 victory at Helsby (Alex Molyneux; MoM Fraser Robinson), given to them by James Berry, Mac Johnston, Oscar Boulton, MoM Casey Morley and Morgan Handley (2).

Malpas & District Blacks (Lewis Richardson; MoM Ross Thomasson) drew 1-1 at home to Newton Athletic Hawks as Vicars Cross Dynamos were beaten 9-0 at Groves Athletic.

Chester & District Zebras continued their winning ways in the Cheshire Under 10s Girls League on Saturday.

They beat Crossfield Pumas 6-1 with goals from Grace Beesley (3), Emma Bissell (2) and Megan Griffiths-Tucker before sweeping aside Frodsham Town 5-1 courtesy of Beesley (2), star girl Bissell (2) and Niamh Kerfoot.
