THERE is no separating Blacon Youth and Upton Pumas in the battle for the Chester & District Junior League Under 9s Red Division championship.

Blacon won 4-0 at Vauxhall Motors Zafira, for whom Matthew Yates was the man of the match, on Saturday with goals from Ben Shaw, Charlie Evans, Sam Crimes and MoM Leon Duckers to stay top. But second-placed Upton remain level on points with the pacesetters after their 7-1 success at Malpas & District (Josh Harthill; MoM Rhys Roberts).

MoM Harvey Tegg starred as Waverton Wasps won 3-0 at Ellesmere Port Rangers with first-half goals from Archie King, Harvey Jobman and Louis Mullineux.

Chester Nomads closed the gap on the Blue Division leaders with a 6-1 victory at home to Princes Villa Colts (Harry Knight).

Calum Caulfield (2), Dillan Hodgkisson (2), Tom Fisher and Billy Hart did the damage for Nomads, for whom Nick Jones was the MoM.

Green Division table-toppers Vauxhall Motors Astras (Jack Swift 3, Josh Merriman 2, George Hollyoak 2, Luke Stanley) powered to an 8-0 home win over Groves. MoM Sam Rickets stood out.
