Pumas deny Wasps

AN END-TO-END Chester & District Junior League Under 9s Cup B clash between Waverton Wasps and Upton Pumas ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Waverton, for whom Finlay Taber was the man of the match, took the lead when Johnny Rawcliffe’s left-wing corner curled in. But their lead did not last long as the visitors equalised six minutes later with a deflected free kick.

Helsby lost 9-0 at Vauxhall Motors Astras (Henry Ted-Willet 3, Josh Merriman 3, MoM Nathan Speakes, Dan Brazier, Flynn Kaye) while Westminster Park drew 0-0 at home to Christleton Newscene.

Leon Duckers got the only goal of the game as Blacon Youth won 1-0 at home to Vauxhall Motors Zafira in Under 9s Cup A.

Connor Andrews was the Blacon man-of-the-match with Matt Yeates taking the honour for Motors.

Princes Villa (MoM Reece Flood 2, Mike Pugh 2, Callum Hurst) were 5-1 winners at home to Ellesmere Port Rovers (Daniel Jackson; MoM Reece Jones).

Malpas & District lost 2-1 at Groves in the U9s Shield. Josh Harthill replied for Malpas, for whom Max Werner was the man-of-the-match.

Newton Athletic Eagles won 3-0 at home to Saughall Colts but Waverton Bees were beaten 2-0 at home by Ellesmere Port Rangers. Upton Panthers left Vicars Cross Dynamos Colts as 1-0 winners.

Joey Powell bagged a brace and man-of-the-match Jake Mason shone for Saughall Colts in Under 10s Shield B.

But the duo were unable to prevent Saughall from going down 4-2 at home to Westminster Park Lions.

Tom Ward (3), Lloyd Davies-Paul (2), Ted Challinor (2), Ted Harris and Josh Davies did the damage as Waverton Rockets won 9-2 at home to Vicars Cross Dynamos in Under 10s Shield A.

James White was Waverton’s man-of-the-match.

Waverton Jets enjoyed a 7-0 success at home to Newton Athletic Hawks while Vicars Cross Dynamos Rangers triumphed 4-2 at Porto Pumas.

Goals from James Jacks and Luis Edwards swept Malpas & District Reds to a 2-0 home win over Vicars Cross Dynamos Colts in Under 10s Cup B. Malpas’ man-of-the-match award went to Dane Tinsley.

MoM Joey Thompson was on target for Blacon Youth in their 1-1 draw at Newton Athletic, for whom Josh Scully struck and Daniel Goodchild was the MoM.

Upton Pumas drew 3-3 at Porto Panthers.

Christleton Newscene won 5-0 at Hawker Jets in Under 10s Cup A.

Helsby lost 9-0 at Ellesmere Port Town (Matt Vickers 5, Joe Burrows 3, Ben Murray) and Westminster Park Panthers were edged out 1-0 at home by Groves Athletic.

Smith efforts in vain

A GOAL and a man-of-the-match display from Ben Smith could not stop Malpas & District from losing 2-1 at home to Vicars Cross Dynamos in Chester & District Junior League Under 12s Division One on Sunday.

Champions Blacon Youth won 4-0 at JFC Boughton.

A treble from MoM Connor Harwood and singles from Harry McFadden and Morgan Arathoon fired Groves Rangers to a 5-0 Division Two victory at Hope Farm.

Waverton Jets scored with the last kick of the game to win an entertaining Under 11s Division Two contest at home to Porto Panthers 3-2.

Will Medland, Aiden White and Nathan Parker shared the Waverton strikes with Harry Hedges and Antony Jones finding the net for Porto, for whom Mason Vincent was the man-of-the-match.

Joel Nevitt (2) and Johnnie Wright scored for Malpas & District in their 3-3 draw at home to Waverton Bees in Under 15s Division Two.

Chester Nomads caused a shock in Division One by winning 4-1 at leaders Waverton Wasps.

Elton Youth lost 2-1 at home to Groves in the Under 17s-18s Division in spite of an impressive performance from man-of-the-match Dean Simcott.

Blacon Youth and Chester Nomads boosted their Under 13s Division title bids.

Second-placed Blacon won 9-0 at home to Newton Athletic as third-placed Nomads ran out 5-2 winners at home to Waverton Wasps.

JFC Boughton’s march to the Under 14s Division One title continued with a 5-0 victory at home to Waverton Wasps.
