Elton on cloud nine

IT was a very proud day for Elton Youth as they hit top spot for the first time in the Chester & District Junior League.

Their 9-0 victory at Vicars Cross Dynamos Colts, secured by goals from man-of-the-match Aaron Catterall (4), Matthew Collins (2), Ryan Spencer, Jamie Douglas and Cian Thomas, sent them to the summit of Under 11s Division Two.

In Division One, there was a 7-0 success for Newtown Athletic away to Malpas & District.

Vicars Cross Dynamos came from behind to win an entertaining Under 12s Division Cup encounter at Waverton Arrows 3-2.

The determined Dynamos turned the tie around in the final 10 minutes, scoring three stunning strikes, none finer than their free-kick winner.

Blacon Youth (Jake Williams 3, Joshua Thompson 2, Liam McGrath, Thomas Burns, Lucas Spilsbury, Tyler Maguire) ran out 9-1 winners at Groves.

James Ferguson (3), Oscar Welsh, Ed Clowes, Jack Lyon, Will Morris, Theo Coulter and Tom Hill did the damage as Malpas & District booked their place in the second round of the Under 13s Division Cup with a 9-1 victory at home to Hope Farm.

Kit Tillotson was the man of the match as Vicars Cross Dynamos won 1-0 at home to Upton with a Rory Harper goal.

Blacon Youth (Sam Ward 2, Layton Ashford, Kenny Brown, Harley Bennion, James McGee, Callum Staff; MoM Sam Carroll) swept to a 7-0 success at Saughall Colts.

Blacon Youth won their big Under 14s Division clash at Chester Nomads 5-3 thanks to goals from Trey Latte (2), John Brown (2) and Lewis Coppack.

Warren Millington was Blacon’s man of the match.

Upton and Princes Villa progressed in the U14s Division Cup after winning 2-0 at home to Malpas & District and 3-1 away to Vicars Cross Dynamos (Joe McDermott; MoM Alex Nelson) respectively.

Malpas & District marched into the Under 15s Division Cup second round with a 3-0 win at home to Princes Villa Colts given to them by Adam Hailes, Oliver Hailes and Tom Millburn.

Tom Mills was Malpas’ man of the match.

Tom Berry (3), Alex Harrison, Callum Hershaw, Alex Jones, Joseph McCleary, Harry Peaker and Benjamin Woodman were on target for Upton in their 9-0 triumph at home to nine-man Tattenhall.

Adam Mearns was Upton’s MoM.

No sign of ring rust

UPTON Pumas, playing for only the second time since Christmas, won 2-0 at home to Princes Villa in Chester & District Junior League Under 10s Cup B.

A Ryan Smith strike and an own goal ensured an excellent team performance went rewarded.

Dan Watson and Owen Messham shared Upton’s man-of-the-match award, with Thomas Fitzgerald landing the Villa honour.

Blacon Youth won 2-1 at Newton Athletic Eagles but Vicars Cross Dynamos suffered a 9-0 home defeat to Vauxhall Motors (Ethan Knott 4, Dylan Jones 2, Jack Swift, Jack Fitzsimmons, Nathan Farrington; MoM Nathan Speakes).

A FLURRY of early goals set Chester Nomads Ambers on their way to a 6-1 success at Ellesmere Port Rangers in the Chester & District Junior League Under 9s Shield B.

Man-of-the-match Harry Newman (4) and Dan Sixsmith (2) netted for Nomads. Cassius Martin replied for Rangers, for whom Max Bainbridge was their MoM.

Waverton Wasps (Sam Nutt 2, Max Grace 2, MoM Adam Hayes 2) won 6-0 at Blacon Youth Tigers (MoM Cory Robson-Hall) while Helsby (Tom Abisgold; MoM Henry Rimmer) went down 3-1 at Princes Villa Colts (Matthew Walker 2, George Farrell; MoM Archie Hughes).
