Steve Burr has added Newcastle Town left-back Ricky Bridge to his Chester FC squad ahead of tomorrow’s home encounter with Nuneaton Town (3pm).

Bridge joins from the play-off chasing Evo-Stik First Division South, Staffordshire side and could go straight in to the squad for tomorrows game at the Swansway Chester Stadium.

Former Manchester City and Port Vale junior Bridge, 24,  arrives at the Blues having plied his trade non-league football with Kidsgrove Athletic and Leek Town before joining Castle.

His arrival will boost Burr’s defensive options at left-back, an area which has proved problematic in recent months due to the departure of Lee Pugh and injuries to Kevin McIntyre and Joe Heath.

Paul Linwood stood in ably in the Blues’ 4-3 win at Tamworth on Tuesday night while Michael Kay has also played in the position in recent weeks.
