Chester FC's young guns came from behind to pile on the goals against Chadderton in the FA Youth Cup first qualifying round.

A crowd of almost 300 at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium saw the Blues put on a finishing masterclass to register a hugely impressive 9-1 triumph.

The visitors were ahead early on through Corey Kelly and he could have doubled the lead shortly after but things soon turned sour for the visitors from Greater Manchester.

Corey Scarisbrick equalised for Calum McInytyre’s side with just five minutes on the clock, before goals from Joe Savin and Oliver Nugent made it 3-1 to the Blues at the interval.

Nugent added to his tally after the restart to make it 4-1 and grabbed his hat-trick soon after to put the hosts out of sight.

But Chester didn’t take their foot off the gas and continued to rack up the goals with James Jones, Jacob Evans and Nathan Brown all finding the target.

And it was left to Kieran Evans to put the gloss on a superb performance when he dispatched a stunning free-kick to make it nine and seal safe passage into the next round for the young Blues.

McInytre said: “The FA Youth Cup is probably the highlight of our season for the Under 18s. When you get to play games at the stadium and play at some really good facilities, it’s what this competition can offer.”
