George Thomson wants to continue his hot streak after completing a belated move to Chester FC.

Thomson impressed fans and Steve Burr in a pre-season trial yet the club was not in a position to sign the attacking midfielder and he returned to Kings Lynn Town.

Thomson (left) brushed off that setback and has been in scintillating form for the Evo-Stik Premier Division club, scoring 21 goals before Christmas and that convinced Burr to bring him in.

“The move really came about on Monday when I got a phone call off my manager at Kings Lynn saying Chester had got back in touch,” said Thomson.

“It came out of the blue really and it’s all happened very quickly. I think what happened in the summer was just one of those things that happens in football. Sometimes things don’t work out as you’d want or at that time.

“It happens in everyday life and you’ve just got get on with it as best you can and carry on with what you’re doing, which is what I did. I went back to Kings Lynn, played well for them and managed to score a few goals and it’s worked out well for me.”

Thomson, who comes from the Leicestershire village of Long Clawson, started his career at Nottingham Forest before being cut loose. He then moved to Cadiz as part of the Glenn Hoddle Academy, playing for Spanish club Jerez Industrial, before spells at Hinckley United and Histon.

“I had quite a few clubs after leaving Forest and I didn’t really settle but then I got the opportunity at Kings Lynn,” said Thomson, who appeared in two pre-season friendlies for the Blues, scoring twice in a 4-2 win at Marine.

“I got promoted with them and that’s a good experience at any level and I had a run of about 120 games which was great and I’ve definitely improved as a player.

“I’ve been playing just off the front as a number 10 this season but I’ve been used out wide or in midfield, but when I was up in the summer I played up front and I’m happy to play anywhere I’m needed.

“I’m an attacking player and that’s how the manager likes to play so I think it’s going to be a good fit. I’m itching to play and I’m coming into an environment I’ve already been and I hope I can hit the ground running and do the business.”
